Introducing TEND: A Groundbreaking Framework for Healing Neurodivergent Childhood Trauma
Author Monika Baechler-Dombay Unveils the “TEND Framework” and Announces Her Upcoming Book "The Gut-Brain Reset for Neurodivergent Childhood Trauma Survivors".
Monika Baechler-Dombay, Cert. Nutrition Specialist, writer, and trauma-informed wellness advocate, is proud to introduce TEND: Trauma-Emotional Neurodivergence & Development, a groundbreaking new framework that explores the intersection of childhood trauma, neurodivergence, and gut-brain health. |
TEND is the first term designed to describe and validate the unique challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals who have experienced childhood emotional neglect and trauma. It shifts the conversation around healing by recognising that traditional trauma recovery, gut healing, and mindful eating approaches often fail neurodivergent trauma survivors—not because they lack discipline or motivation, but because their nervous system, gut function, beliefs, and emotional regulation have been shaped by early-life adversity.
“I created TEND because I saw a gap in how we talk about trauma, neurodivergence, and the gut-brain connection,” says Baechler-Dombay. “Growing up as a neurodivergent child in an emotionally neglectful environment, I spent decades searching for a solution to my struggles—never quite finding the right approach. I battled emotional eating, nervous system dysregulation, and gut health issues, but nothing fully explained why I felt so disconnected from my body and its needs.
It wasn’t until nearly 30 years of struggling with my mental, physical, and emotional health that I finally healed and made the connection: my childhood emotional neglect and neurodivergence were at the root of it all. The existing frameworks for trauma healing and gut health didn’t acknowledge these overlapping challenges. I developed TEND as a compassionate, science-backed approach that actually works—one that validates the experiences of those who have been overlooked in traditional recovery models.”
